"FIRST builds on sections from the Creation Story that is portrayed in the mural using themes that are universal and present in many cultures. The main narrative is First Man's quest for identity and community. Other universal themes including fire and flood lead to the earned wisdom that we must express gratitude for life and the interconnectedness of all living things. The text was completed first, providing the foundation for composer Nancy Walker's original score. The text and music combine to tell the story in a moving and powerful way."

"... The MCFN community embraced this project because it creates awareness of the First Nation, our community and our history, culture and traditions. The Kiinwi Dabaadjmowin Mural has become an integral component of telling of our past and of our hope for the future that our children will go out into the world knowing who they are. Our collaboration with The Harmony Collaboration has created new ways for them to tell our story."
